September 22 @ 8:00 am – September 23 @ 5:00 pm
Community Action for Veterans (CAV) invites service providers, advocates, and community leaders to the 2025 CAV Conference, scheduled for September 22–23 at the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
This two-day professional development event is designed to strengthen systems of care for veterans and military families, with a strong focus on the unique challenges facing rural communities.
This year’s theme, “Building Communities of Care,” reflects CAV’s mission to improve access, foster collaboration, and equip professionals with the tools they need to better serve military-connected people. Attendees may earn up to 11.25 continuing education units (CEUs).
Day One begins with Leading with Heart, a powerful plenary session (3.5 CEUs)
featuring three national leaders whose work spans federal policy, healthcare systems, and tribal advocacy. Their lived experiences and leadership will set the tone for a conference rooted in equity, purpose, and real-world impact.
That afternoon, participants will dive into three focused learning tracks (3.75 CEUs) to explore mental health, rural challenges, and military families and caregiving. Each session offers actionable tools, promising practices, and space for collaborative problem-solving for professionals working in rural and underserved areas.
Day Two will culminate with Heart of a Warrior (4 CEUs), an immersive, 4-hour capstone led by U.S. Marine Corps veteran and leadership coach Kelley Moore. Using Combat Brain Training™ techniques and a values-driven framework, this session is designed to reignite clarity, courage, and resilience. More than a closing session, it’s a transformative call to action.
In addition to the conference, CAV will host the VA 1-on-1: Veterans Assistance Expo, where VA staff, veteran service organizations, and community partners will provide on-site services, information, and support. The Expo is free and open to all service members, veterans, and their families. No conference registration is required.
