Dear friends,
Let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. This is love; not that we loved God, but that He loves us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins (1 John 4:7–10).
Peace to you and His love,
John, the disciple whom Jesus loves
We are so glad you have joined us for The Grounded Life. Being loved by Jesus was John’s identity. He wants you to be grounded in God’s love too. Something as amazing as the love of God can be hard to comprehend, but it is certainly life changing!
Have you ever been to the ocean and watched the waves? They never stop rolling in, one after another, day after day, year after year, generation after generation. Endless, constant, powerful.
God’s love is something like the ocean. Just as the waves have no beginning and no end, God loves you with a love that has no beginning and no end. His love can be received and experienced, but not measured because it has no limit. It has the power to shape you just as the waves shape the coastline. God’s love gives you identity, confidence, security, courage. It is a refuge, your hope and your salvation.
But don’t just take John’s word for it! See how God’s love has the power to transform your heart. Ask Him for help to understand His love just as Paul does in Ephesians 3:14–21. Here’s a short prayer to get you started:
Dear God,
I thank You for Your immeasurable, powerful love for me. Each day, I want to be more rooted and grounded in Your love. Please strengthen me through Your Holy Spirit so I can grasp how wide and long and high and deep Your love is for me. Fill my heart with Your love so that it overflows to You and the people You’ve put in my life. Amen.
