It’s all too easy to let the things you lack tell you whether or not God loves you.
When the longings of your heart are not met in the ways you desire, it’s an invitation to find hope anchored in biblical love. God loved you by sending Jesus when you didn’t know Him or even think you needed Him. His love can answer your heart’s deepest need for reconciliation and relationship with Him.
1 John 4:9–10 says, “This is how God showed His love to us; He sent His one and only son into the world that we might live through Him. This is love; not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”
It’s one thing to know that God loves you, and at the same time feel like a total stranger to the comfort of His love. Here are a couple ways to begin to experience His love for you.
- Make time to consider His love throughout your day.
- Look up verses in the Bible about God’s love. Psalm 36, Psalm 89, Psalm 103, and Psalm 136 all highlight steadfast love.
- Write down a verse that stands out to you about God’s love and refer to it throughout your day.
- Ask God to show you how much you are loved. Here is a simple prayer you can pray today:
Dear God,
I thank You for Your immeasurable, powerful love for me. Each day I want to be more rooted and grounded in Your love. Please strengthen me through Your Holy Spirit so I can experience how wide, and long and high and deep Your love is for me. Fill my heart with Your love so that it satisfies my heart’s deepest need for relationship with You. Amen.
